Chick’s Philly is a gastro-pub in a converted auto-body shop that has kept the old roll-up garage-doors as walls. Chick’s serves all the gastro-pub classics: tacos, burgers, wings, mussels, pasta and pizza. They also have a wide selection of beers on tap. The restaurant is reportedly named for the owner’s father-in-law, Frank “Chickie” Narducci, reputedly a top lieutenant to slain mob boss Angelo Bruno.
Dumplings: Chick’s Philly serves fried wontons filled with duck confit and cream cheese, served with a sweet chili dipping sauce and a small side of napa kimchi. The deep-fried wontons were super crispy and not greasy at all. The duck confit filling was delicious, very savory with a slight game meat flavor and a great chew mouth feel. The sweet chili dipping was a little too sweet, but the spicy, funky kimchi was a great complement to the duck confit, although I could of used a larger portion of the kimchi.

Location: Chick’s Philly is between 18th and 19th streets on Washington Ave, which serves as the border between the Graduate Hospital and Point Breeze neighborhoods.
